Korumburra arrived at the ground to find out that their small squad had been cut by two players and they had to play with 10 players. The game started in perfect conditions and Korumburra quickly showed a steely determination to make up for the lack of numbers. They were passing the ball around well, where as Wonthaggi were relying on long balls that Burra’s back four dealt with confidently. The first half finished 0-0 and although there were no goals, it was a very exciting game. The second half was the same and Wonthaggi nearly took the lead but a fine save from Lachie Thomas, Burra’s keeper, kept them in the game. With the game heading to extra time, Liiam Miller started a good move from the middle, Aidan Richards split the defense with a perfect pass and Chloe Rodda calmly beat the Wonthaggi keeper to put Burra 1-0 up. It was a hectic last 5 minutes but Burra held out for a well deserved win.
